I met Brittany while I was shooting mini sessions at Mt Charleston about a year ago. She told me that she was a photographer and that I had photographed her cousin a few years ago and that she was a fan of my work. I was flattered. Really. Then, a few weeks ago, she emailed me asking for a session. We booked it and then she let me in on a little secret. She let me look into a little window into her life. She told me that she had recently beaten cancer. I had no idea. She said that she had gone through chemotherapy and radiation and she is now CANCER FREE and that this shoot with her supportive husband Curtis and two “babies” is to CELEBRATE. I can’t think of any reason better.
While shooting, and watching them laugh and hug and play, a few different times it crossed my mind- how difficult times must have been for them in the not-so-distant past. They’ve been together since high school, but I’m sure that fighting cancer brought on many fears that they could have never been prepared for…. and here they are on the other side, victorious.
